Heart of the King

I was thinking about what it was for David to have a heart after God's own heart. I want to have the same heart. If so much of our daily life causes our hearts to be yanked and pulled by every cultural whim, how can we define our heart as God's when we can't define where our heart actually is?

It's a discipline to find out where your heart lies. We spend so much time trying to figure that out on our own. I know there are times where I will be frustrated in life and not really know why. All of the sudden I will realize that I've been trying to do everything by my own strength, not by His.

What does it mean to have God's strength? It means relying upon him for each and every moment. It means spending time with Him. It means memorizing his word. It means talking to him. It means going to him with the smallest of things as well as the largest.

And this is really the essence of having Gods own heart. To love sincerely; to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.
